Eligibility for thesis submission follows Article 25, Chapter 4 of the Enforcement Rules of the Graduate School Academic Regulations and must also satisfy the following:

Doctoral students must achieve publication performance of at least 200% in peer-reviewed journals related to their major.
- Advisor + student (2 authors): 100%
- Including student, 3 authors: 70%
- Including student, 4 authors: 50%
- Including student, 5 or more authors: 30%

If published as the lead author (first/co-first) or corresponding/co-corresponding author in a Q1 international journal,
each paper is recognized as 200% regardless of the number of co-authors. (rev. 2019-09-23, 2022-04-25)

If published as the lead or corresponding author in a Q2 international journal,

- ② For domestic journals, only papers in KRF-indexed (NRF-listed) journals are recognized.
- ③ Among published papers, at least one must be an international journal (SCI, SCI-E, SSCI, A&HCI) with the applicant as lead or corresponding author. (rev. 2019-09-23, 2022-04-25)

④ Recognized international journals are limited to those indexed in SCI, SCI-E, SSCI, or A&HCI,

If additional recognition criteria for international journals are specified by the Office of Academic Affairs
(by department/field), those criteria are also accepted as international journals under Article 2 (④). (abridged)

⑧ For industry–academia (joint) students, two co-advisors are counted as one; if only one advisor appears as author,
a Hanyang University faculty member must be a co-author. Papers co-authored with a co-advisor at the partnered institute are also recognized. (rev. 2024-05-27)

⑨ The affiliation on all publications must be Hanyang University, and the advisor must be included as a co-author.
